How do we get to Tamarindo from San Jose?
Liberia is the most convenient international airport. It’s about one hour drive from there. From San Jose it is possible to fly Sansa Air to Tamarindo, this takes about 45 minutes.
How can I reserve a sports fishing charter with Sportsfish Costa Rica.com
You can make a reservation online for inshore or offshore fishing by using the reservation form or emailing us or contacting us by telephone, then following this through with a deposit.
What payment methods are available?
The most convenient way to make a deposit is by using the PayPal form on our website or you can make deposit to our bank account. Phone us to get the details.
Can I get a Refund, what is your refund policy?
If you cancel up to 3 days before your trip you will get a refund of 85pc of the cost of the trip. You may change the date of your fishing trip up to 24 hrs before the date of your charter, provided the new date is available.
How many people can go on a fishing Charter?
The boat is licensed to carry up to 10 persons, this normally includes 2 crewmembers. However 6 fishermen at a time is the ideal number for your maximum comfort and enjoyment.
What should we bring with us on the fishing trip?
Sun block, hat, dark glasses and possibly a change of light clothing.
What dood, drink will you supply, what if I have special dietary requirements?
We provide snacks, fruits, beers, sodas and water. Just let us know in advance if you have any special dietary requirements.
What fishing gear do you supply for the trip?
We provide all the necessary International Game Fish Association (I.G.F.A.) tackle bait etc. required. What protection from the sun and heat is there on the Charter Boat?
The boat has lots of shaded areas and a fully air conditioned salon, if you want to escape the heat of the tropical sun.
What Safety equipment does your charter boat carry?
We have sufficient lifejackets for everyone on board, a life ring, fire extinguishers and a dinghy.
Which fish can we keep if we catch?
We practice Catch and Release for billfish such as Marlin and Sailfish but you can keep certain species of fish such as Wahoo, Dorado and Tuna.
How much should I Tip?
Tipping, a delicate question. Clients may tip according to the level of satisfaction they have had with the onboard service, a bit like restaurants 15-20 per cent is considered generous.
Will I have to share with people I don’t know?
You will only share the boat with people you don’t know if it’s your own choosing to reduce the cost per person. The hiring price of the boat remains the same if it is one person or eight.
How far does the boat go out on offshore trips?
The boat may travel anywhere between 15-40 miles offshore from Tamarindo Beach and Flamingo Bay.
Does it get rough, will I get sea sick?
Seasickness is always a possibility for some. We will have medication on board to help counteract the effects.
What is the weather like in the different seasons of Costa Rica?
Winds are more variable January to April. The rainy season is from September to November. If the winds are too strong and conditions are unsafe or unpleasant we will not go out fishing.
